Downwind foiling on the new KT Dragonfly Surf 7'8"
Third session on the new Dragonfly Surf and this board is absolutely fantastic. After a year on the 7'7" V1 I really like how this new model works on our short period swells. Super light, easy take off(unfortunately not on the video) and rides like a dream. I am loving it.

What kind of wind do need for DW? It looks <15kn out there.
It was about 18-20 knots that day. The GoPro didn't do it justice. With a big wing, you can downwind even in 8-10 knots as long as there are some small bumps.

Sweet. You ride the foil lower in the water compared to wing foiling. Is that typical of downwinding or just your style/preference?
It was a light day, so a 28-inch mast would have been better for sure. The 180X has great glide, so I wasn't feeling too much drag.

How much do you weigh? Did it take long to get used to the width/how it doesnt like to turn when in the water? Are you happy with your choice now you had it for a while or prefer a smaller one? Super cool videos man
I weigh 80 kgs and I found the board very stable from day one. It feels much shorter than its length. Best purchase I have ever made. Thanks, man
@@KomninosDimitris sounds epic. Now youve had it for a while do you wish you had a size down or this is the sweet spot for excess volume to stay high enough on water and have solid paddle speed?
Hm, tough question. I have used the 7'4", which was fine, and the shorter length felt nice. However, when you step down in foil size, stability and take-off become more difficult. Now, I can take off on the smallest and weakest bump without any doubt.

Thanks man! I use the Infinity Flash and Whiplash. Both paddles feel nice on the body and give a good amount of power.

How heavy is your friend Jim ? And how it feel with the 8'2 ? The dragonfly is impossible to find in france (6 month delay), but i find a pretty good deal in occasion. Unfortunately it's à 8,2-121L, i would prefer the 110L like yours. I weight 68kg ...
My friend weighs 86 kgs. He could go for the 7'7", but he prefers the extra stability of the 8'2"
At your weight, you could easily go on the 7'4"
